Best of the summer paintings
Southern Route is a collective name for these last two seasons of work.
It find I am always looking for some "quest object." for the "what" in the paintings of the Landscape. A subject, like the Sunflowers, the Western Tanager, etc.
I'm coming to see I was looking more for this figure I painted in the beginning of my career.
This figure represents Art itself I guess-- with the attendant metaphoric--Sun or --.
As in Whitman the thing he saw he became.
Theres a lot said there.
Just an odd assortment of photos below.

Madrid Night Studio, Sparagmos
This painting was destroyed when I tried to cut it up into a four part painting representing a cycling idea-- though it didn't work.
I'm remaking it while I have a chance.
