Making drawings on canvas.

Yes they are paintings, but removed from the finished state of the oil painting. There is a subtle spacial distance I think I like.

Still deciding.

A drawing and painting. Well, so what is a drawing?-- these are stages to a painting.

Drawings on Canvas with Flashe paint and Gesso.

My idea was to paint on canvas rather than paper. It wouldn't need framing and would still have a prior relationship to the oil paintings relating to them.

Beginning drawings

...and then an idea to make same drawings on canvas.

I'm not sure how this will play out but thought I'd try making drawings for the new painting's stage-- on canvas.

Using gesso and Flashe paint.

I always make my own stretchers.

I often change my mind in the middle of things--  thinking of what I finally will do over a few days usually.

A physical size of something will change an idea.

I picked the size on the right 22 x 24". Just off sq.

I am using 2" brushes so had to be large enough canvas size to image.

The painting below was painted with smaller brushes.

Jan 4, Starting series of drawings

I had begun some drawings last spring in NM. I started there.
